New Year’s Resolutions Should Jesus Bear The Alone?

A week before Christmas every year something strange happens around the homes of America and Canada every year. It seems that after all the presents under the tree become wrapped, stockings stuffed and the 18 course meal is cooked, ate and digested. It seems like there is at least one of these people in every home. I like to call them the Resolution Man or woman.  Some of the most common resolutions are going to the gym, quit smoking or even quit drinking.quit_smoking_life_is_beautiful I ask you to indulge me for a moment. Let’s say we bypass all those promises. Instead let’s turn our attention to what really matters. Jesus… Jesus matters. The reason I say this is because he should be the center of everyone’s focus and I’m not just talking about mind over matter like they say for people to do in Yoga. I’m talking about making a real commitment to the cause of Christ. Many, many people may wonder what the cause of Christ is. In most churches today these  ideals are lost on most believers leaving believers in Christ that just to try and be good is good enough for God and good enough for them to make heaven.  I am a not a preacher, teacher or priest but I do follo051eff89-4662-4e9e-af5f-17358409015b_zpsytunktwjw to my very best what the Bible says.  The reason so many churches don’t really know what the real cause of Christ is or the reason the teaching of Christ is lost on a lot of people today is because most churches don’t exactly know what it truly means to pick up your cross and follow the paths of Jesus.

Matthew 16:24King James Version (KJV)

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

This year I make a commitment to at least three days a week. As a way of tithing my time unto God.

What is on your 2017 to do List?
