The Unknown God

Project Bible 365  Day 54 The Unknown God

10 Biblical Leaders In 10 Days – 9 – Paul

The Apostle Paul, a wonderful soul winner for the Lord had a great burden for lost souls. The Apostle Paul during his lifetime traveled more than 20,000 miles on foot. One of the ways he was able to do that is because of the way Roman roads were built. They were all made straight. Romans builders built roads like this because it was easier for them to communicate, and it was made easy for the Roman soldiers to invade neighboring countries.

The birth place of Saul who is Paul was occupied by Roman governors. Paul was a Roman by birth.   The second greatest sermon spoken by the Apostle Paul was his message to the Grecian people in Athens.

22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s devices.

What does it mean to have idols?

An Idol is an image or other materials representing a deity to be worshiped. That’s in God’s big book of THOU SHALL NOT!

Exodus 20:3-4King James Version (KJV)

1rGC5GKThou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Yet we as a people see this sort of thing every day. The people of the world are listening to the latest and greatest hit songs by the latest pop stars. There are other kids and young people alike taking part in weekend sports events and when I say that they are taking part in weekend sports I mean to say they are taking part in sports that “suspiciously  occurs on Sundays.” Has anybody ever wondered why sporting events happen on Sunday. The enemy creates a day to keep your eyes off God.

I once heard a story about a pastor who preached a short sermon on one Sunday. The reason he gave his church members  behind why his sermon was going to be short is because he had to take his child to hockey. When I heard about this, it caught my attention, and no doubt did it catch the attention and ire of God.

Matthew 23:13King James Version (KJV)

add_toon_info13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Paul was a great soul winner for the Lord because he always knew what Jesus was. Paul’s testimony was I have kept the faith. What faith? The Jesus faith of course. Now why did the Apostle Paul go to the Gentiles? It was the will of God, because the Jewish nation would not listen, and the Greeks were still undecided because they were searching their false doctrine books.

1 Corinthians 1:22-30King James Version (KJV)

jesus and mary22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Paul was able to be a victorious soul winner because he served the Jesus compassion.  The Holy Spirit was able to use Paul to win souls through the healing of people by his own clothes.

Acts 19:11-12King James Version (KJV)

11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them

Paul In Prison_Paul In Chains

Now one of the reasons Paul was able to have a victorious life through Christ was because his testimony was always about Jesus. Through his various tests and trials. Paul was humbled.  Paul was put in prison. Paul was beaten, stoned, shipwrecked and often hungry and naked. However in that time he never took his eyes off Jesus. In Paul’s time he would build various churches, wrote nine books in the Testament with 13 letters attributed to him. He would write a variety of books while in chains.  That’s why at the end of Paul’s race he was able to smile while approaching Nero’s  chop block.

2 Timothy 4:6-7King James Version (KJV)

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
