Project Bible 365 (Day 48) Elijah The Israelite Prophet “If God Be God Than Serve Him”
10 Biblical Leaders In 10 Days 4-10 Elijah
God is a wonderful author. Many people these days have a hard time really believing the Word because often times they see the scriptures as just print on paper. I have to openly admit. I know what they mean.Let me rephrase that, I used to know what that was like before receiving the baptism of fire. However I also know that there is much life within the scriptures. The reason why many people of the world today who claim to be Christian don’t get clear understanding of the scriptures, its because they don’t have the Holy Ghost Baptism. Most Christians just get saved and they just stop. They don’t press on to the higher calling of receiving the Holy Ghost.
Why is it important to recieve the Holy Ghost? Answer: True born again Christians are spirit filled. True born again Christians know how important it is to recieve Holy Ghost because the Scriptures were spiritually written through the power of the Holy Ghost, so the Holy Scriptures are to be spiritually discerned. When you can realize that there is power in the Holy Ghost. The Bible will become an entirely different book. The Bible has more action than any type of superman comic books.
The Bible is not just a book of ancient
scribblings. The pages of the Bible have life, and power. Are you ready to use the power given to you through the Word like the Israelite Prophet Elijah did? Elijah was so close to God as his prophet God gave him the power to without rain for three and a half years. That’s God’s Greatness. That’s God’s Patience. Elijah told King Ahab the word.Even though there was a drought in Israel, God didn’t forsake his Prophet. The Bible says, the Our Lord commanded the Ravens to feed his man of God. Raven’s fed Elijah. Birds fed Elijah, not a human being. Some times when God can’t use mankind because of free choice, he will use animals. Example, Ravens and horses and yes even Donkeys.
1 Kings 17:1-6King James Version (KJV)
17 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
It’s an incredible story of great truth and great mercy. Even when the brook dried up God still directed His Man of God to be sustained by a widow woman.
1 Kings 17:9-16King James Version (KJV)
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.
If God be God Than Serve Him How long will you hold between two opinions?
1 Kings 18:21-40King James Version (KJV)
21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:
24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
25 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.
29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.
40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
In Israel during the time of King Ahab and his wicked Queen there were many falsehoods. So it is like that today. Believe not every spirit that wears a suit and tie in Church. Test the spirits to see if they be of God. Listening to false preachers that are not Holy Ghost filled is a lot like having a bad attitude or a flat tire. If you don’t change them, you aren’t going to go far. I say with all confidence. If God be God than Serve Him?
A City Worker when using a jackhammer to repair the streets always wears earplugs to protect their ears from being damaged. So as it with the True children of God. We must not pay attention to the garlic and onions of the world. We must not stop to listen. If you hear anything contradicting the word of God, ask the Lord to anoint your ears to cast the devils stench out of your way. We as the bride of Christ must not faint, not now…. Jesus is coming back, real soon, real soon…
We as the Bride of Christ must not faint. Not Now. We are almost home.. No matter the battle. No matter the struggles. No more the valleys. Are you ready to climb mountains with me.? You may ask yourself how did I get this kind of BOLD FAITH?
Hebrews 11:12-13King James Version (KJV)
12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Whenever I don’t think I can take too much more. I look to the faith chapter for inspiration insight and courage. I look to my brothers and sisters in the Lord which are doing good work. I look to the elders of churches. I ask myself how many valleys have they came out of? How many mountains have they climbed? These questions that I ask myself strengthen my faith to keep going.
